My Personal Story . . .

I hope this timeline of my experiences will inspire you as you search for ways to help your child. . . .

My father and I, after I graduated from college (using the study techniques he had taught me).

1958: After struggling in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, I was struggling in third grade. My father stepped in to help me and we designed “unique” ways of learning that used movement. I became successful in school.

1972: Using my unusual study techniques, I graduated from UC Davis with Honors.

1973: I completed a teaching and reading credential at UC Davis.

1974: I started teaching elementary school and discovered a passion for helping struggling students.

1976: I moved to what was (at the time) one of THE worst elementary schools in California, and began applying the unique movement activities I had discovered worked for me as a struggling student. The students improved – dramatically.

1987: My oldest daughter entered kindergarten, and the teacher told me she was at the bottom of the class.

1988: My oldest daughter entered first grade, and her teacher told me she was at the bottom of the class. I began to use the movement activities I had used with my dad and with the students in my classrooms with my daughter.

1992: My youngest daughter was at the bottom of first grade (same teacher).

My youngest daughter and I, 1992, when she began to struggle in school as I had.

1993: I returned to school to get a Master’s degree.

1996: My youngest daughter (now in high school) had all As and a B in Honors classes . . . but couldn’t control the headaches she got from reading. I started home schooling her. I discovered a tool that films the eyes as they read and discovered she didn’t know how to move her eyes from left to right.

2001: My oldest daughter graduated from high school (second in her class of 900) and got a scholarship to college.

2003: I opened my learning center in California (Hardy Brain Training) and have helped over 900 struggling students become successful.

2005: My oldest daughter got a full scholarship to MIT for her Master’s degree. (When a friend of mine told her old first grade teacher the news, the teacher said: “Well, GO FIGURE!”). Meanwhile, my youngest daughter got a scholarship to film school and became a film editor.

2008: My oldest daughter planned the commands for a NASA spacecraft while working on her Ph.D. My youngest daughter works successfully editing films.

2008: A parent (Diane) came to see me. She lived too far away to bring her child, Adam, to my center for help. She asked if I would be willing to try working with him long-distance. Adam became my first home-coaching student.

2009: Jeff Henley of the National Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs asked us to begin putting our programs into the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Looking Back . . . .

While visiting my daughter at NASA Mission Control, she and I talked about how far she (and her sister) had come and we decided to create programs like she and her sister had used growing up to become successful, happy people who enjoy their lives.

My oldest daughter and I, the day after she defended her Master's degree at MIT. (She has her Ph.D. now!)

My two daughters and I started studying internet marketing so we can reach and help families across the nation.

We began with an eBook: “Beyond Labels – Helping Your Child Overcome Bad Grades, ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Other Labels So They Can Succeed in School“.

Next, we developed the Successful Student Now Program, which helps parents zero in on exactly what is causing the problem for their child.

The eBook and Successful Student Now illustrated the secret to all my success with educating kids: poor grades, attention problems, and disorganization are only symptoms of underlying problems.

When your child does poorly in school, that symptom could have many different causes as well. Before you can fix your car, you must know the exact problem. The same is true for your child. To fix poor grades, lack of attention, disorganization, behavior problems, etc., you need to pinpoint the exact cause. Then you will be successful at helping your child become successful.

In fact, once the true cause is discovered, the solution is fast and easy. I know that is hard to believe – but it is true. I have helped over 900 students in the last 7 years become successful quickly and easily – once I pinpointed the processing weakness in the brain that caused the problem.

The reason I’ve detailed my progression over the years is to give you insight on how I developed my unique techniques that accomplish tangible results . . . which I know are what you want, too.

My clients sometimes ask me how I helped my own children become successful with so little effort. They ask what specific things I did. They ask me to show them how to help their child.

After helping over 900 children and teens become successful in the last 7 years, I have heard from so many parents that they want and need personal attention to guide them through helping their child become successful.

The way I create success for struggling students is to pinpoint where the brain is not working smoothly and to work intensely on that weakness for a short period of time to correct it.

As you look over my website, if you think that this is a god fit between what I offer and your child’s needs, consider calling or emailing me at 805-389-8144 or sherrie@hardybraintraining.com.

We will set up a free consultation phone call, where I’ll ask some questions to determine if I can help your child become successful.  If I can help, I’ll explain my programs and answer your questions.

I know your child is precious to you.  I know you are concerned that your precious child isn’t becoming everything you had hoped was possible.  I hope I can help.
